Jared Kushner among White House aides admitting use of private emails
Six high-profile members of the US administration have been found to have used private email accounts during their time in the White House, including President Donald Trump’s daughter Ivanka Trump and husband Jared Kushner.
After initial revelations that Kushner had used a private account to conduct work-related business, his wife was also found to have done so during the first months of the administration, according to The New York Times.
Among the others who used private accounts were former chief of staff Reince Preibus and former advisor Steve Bannon. Current head of the National Economic Council Gary Cohn has also been caught up in the reports.
Trump’s campaign rigorously attacked Democratic rival Hillary Clinton during last year’s election for the FBI investigation into her use of a private email server.
Clinton criticised the administration in a radio interview on Monday, referring to its treatment of her as 'the height of hypocrisy'.
"We’re finding with the latest revelations – they didn't mean any of it. It’s just the height of hypocrisy.
"It is something that if they were sincere about I think you’d have Republican members of Congress calling for an investigation. I haven’t heard that yet."
Clinton was investigated twice by FBI director James Comey, the second of which came just 11 days before the crucial vote. She was cleared both times but later admitted that the investigations had damaged her reputation in the run up to the election.
