Source tells CNN 'high probability' Iran launched attack against Saudi
According to a source familiar with the investigation cited by CNN, Iranian forces apparently launched low-flying cruise missiles over southern Iraq and Kuwait in an apparent attempt to conceal the site of the launch, to the north of Saudi.
There was reportedly no indication that the missiles had originated from the south and especially not from as far as Yemen - where Houthi rebels claimed responsibility for the attack using ten drones.
American weapons systems investigators had been sent to Saudi to ascertain how many missiles had been used and their technological base, which might help determine which countries possessed such material.
That task might be aided by the fact that not all of the missiles reportedly managed to reach their intended targets, CNN said.
Iranian foreign minister, Abbas Mousavi, has labelled accusation that his country was responsible as "blind accusations and inappropriate comments in a diplomatic context are incomprehensible and meaningless."
