US and China narrow differences on trade, reports say
American and Chinese negotiators have reportedly made progress in talks, including on purchases of US goods and services, but the two sides are still not ready to finalise a deal.
According to Dow Jones Newswires, which cited its own sources, follow-up cabinet-level talks were expected later in January.
Earlier, the US President himself, had said via a post to his personal account on Twitter: "Talks with China are going very well!"
Separately, Reuters cited US trade delegation member, Steven Winberg, as saying that talks had gone well and that they were set to continue on Wednesday.
