US President opens door to talks with Russia if Kremlin is willing
The US President opened the door to talks with Russia to end the war.
Speaking at a bilateral summit with French leader Emmanual Macron, Joe Biden reportedly added that he would only do so following consultations with NATO allies.
He further said there were no immediate plans to contact Moscow and that he had seen no indication from Russian President, Vladimir Putin, that he was willing to end the conflict.
According to Russian daily Kommersant, Kremlin spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, answered saying: "He said that, first, Putin should leave Ukraine. He believes that this is a demonstration and should be a demonstration that Putin is ready for negotiations.
"The United States still does not recognize the new territories within the Russian Federation.
"And, of course, this significantly complicates the search for some kind of mutual soil. The ground is possible for mutual discussion."
