World Bank boss warns of Brexit danger to developing nations
World Bank president Jim Yong Kim has warned of the escalating dangers to developing nations already hurting from a slump in commodity prices if Britain votes to leave the European Union in June.
"There are huge problems in developing countries, and we're very worried they'll get much worse if there is a Brexit," Kim told BBC Radio 4 Today, adding that a vote in favour of Brexit was "one of the biggest risks we face."
Kim said World Bank experts had studied the potential impact of Britain leaving the single-currency bloc. "We do want to emphasize the point that the stability of the British economy is important for the stability of the global economy."
He added that uncertainty in global capital markets was very negative for the global economy at this time.
