FTSE 250 movers: Oil stocks on the slide, Inchcape hits the brakes
FTSE 250: 19,347.00, -1.02% at 1524 BST.
Oil stocks were in decline as the price of crude oil fell to its lowest level since January as unrest in China over its strict zero-Covid policy spooked investors over a potential slowdown in the world's second-largest economy.
Protests have broken out in several Chinese cities, with the dictatorial state failing to stop footage of them being shared online via social media. Covid cases are on the rise in the country as well, further hitting sentiment.
Tullow Oil, Energean and Wood Group were all lower.
Car dealership Inchcape shares fell as the company said on Monday that chief financial officer Gijsbert de Zoeten has voluntarily tendered his resignation and will be standing down with immediate effect.
"This follows an incident at a recent event where, through a lapse in judgement, he displayed personal behaviour falling short of the high standards expected of the leadership of the group," it said.
Inchcape said his departure is unrelated to the company's financial performance or strategic direction, including the Derco acquisition.
Group financial controller Adrian Lewis has been appointed acting CFO and a process to identify a permanent successor is being initiated.
