US pre-open: Futures in the green ahead of final session of Q3
Wall Street futures were in the green ahead of the bell on Friday as major indices look set to do their best to wrap up a brutal quarter for stocks on a positive note.
As of 1230 BST, Dow Jones futures were up 0.18%, while S&P 500 and Nasdaq-100 futures had the indices opening 0.26% and 0.15% higher, respectively.
The Dow closed 458.13 points lower on Thursday as market participants continued to be concerned about future rate-hiking decisions from the Federal Reserve and the resulting impact on stocks.
With September set to draw to a close, both the Dow Jones and S&P 500 were down more than 7% for the month - the worst monthly performance for the blue-chip Dow Jones since March 2020 and the biggest one-month decline for the S&P 500 since June. The Nasdaq, meanwhile, was on track for its steepest monthly loss since April.
On the macro front, last month's PCE price index will be published at 1330 BST, as will personal income and spending figures, while the University of Michigan's September consumer sentiment index will follow at 1500 BST.
A number of Federal Reserve bankers will deliver speeches throughout the course of the day, with Thomas Barkin, Lael Brainard, Loretta Mester, John Williams, and Michelle Bowman all speaking on Friday.
No major corporate earnings were slated for release on Friday.
