US pre-open: Futures in the red ahead of data
Wall Street futures were in the red prior to the opening bell as investors awaited another batch of data and comments from a number of Federal Reserve bankers.
As of 1230 GMT, Dow Jones futures were down 0.65%, while S&P 500 and Nasdaq-100 futures had the indices opening 0.73% and 0.86% weaker, respectively.
The Dow closed 613.89 points lower on Wednesday as market participants digested a slew of data points.
Macro data will again be the flavour of the day, with weekly jobless claims data, December housing starts and building permits figures, as well as January's Philadelphia Federal Reserve manufacturing index all coming out at 1330 GMT.
Also likely to draw an amount of investor attention, Federal Reserve Bankers Lael Brainard, John Williams, and Susan Collins will all deliver speeches throughout the course of the day.
Comments from JPMorgan Chase chief executive Jamie Dimon were also weighing on sentiment before the bell after the bank's head honcho said he thinks interest rates will probably "go higher than 5%" due to "a lot of underlying inflation", which "won't go away so quick".
In the corporate space, Procter & Gamble and Netflix will both report earnings on Thursday.
