Several persons were believed injured and at least one person was shot during what the London Ambulance Service declared was a "major incident" at London Bridge.
According to the BBC's John McManus, a fight on the bridge led to a stabbing at a premises near the bridge shortly before 1400 GMT.

I hope everyone is safe and un-harmed.
"There appeared to be a fight going on on the other side of the bridge, with several men attacking one man," McManus said.
"Police then quickly arrived, including armed police, and then a number of shots were fired at this man."

Reacting to the incident, London Mayor, Sadiq Khan, clarified that -as a precaution - Metropolitan Police were treating it as if though it were terrorism-related.
The Mayor called on Londoners to avoid the area and await further updates from Met Polie and TfL, and to follow the directions of officers on the ground.
"We must – and we will - stay resolute in our determination to stand strong and united in the face of terror. Those who seek to attack us and divide us will never succeed."
