Dorner - who will remain on the board as a non-executive director following the conclusion of the AGM - will be succeeded by industry veteran and current senior independent director Robert Noel.
Noel joined the board as an independent non-executive director in October 2019 and subsequently became the senior independent director in April 2020. He has more than 30 years of experience in the property sector, including eight years as the CEO of Land Securities. He is also chair of Hammerson.
Independent non-executive director Lord Jitesh Gadhia said: "On behalf of the board, I would like to thank Irene for her outstanding contribution as chair successfully leading the board over the last three years.
"We welcome her agreement to remain on the board, allowing us to continue to benefit from her wide experience and counsel, and wish her family the best for the future."
He added: "Rob is well-respected amongst his colleagues and his familiarity with Taylor Wimpey, and long track record in the property sector, provides excellent commercial experience and continuity of leadership as we face a changing market environment. We are all looking forward to working with him in his new role."
