Former BoE Governor joins Aston Villa board
Former Governor of the Bank of England Lord Mervyn King has joined the board of directors at Aston Villa Football Club.
King, a self-confessed life-long Villa fan, also became a president of Worcestershire County Cricket Club last year.
Villa chairman Steve Hollis said, “Mervyn successfully steered the Bank of England through the most turbulent economic headwinds in living memory.
"His appointment to the board is a huge boost as we plan our path back to more successful times."
The club is currently at the bottom of the Premier League table and facing relegation to the Championship.
Commenting on his appointment, King said, “I shall do my best to help the rebuilding of Aston Villa Football Club as together we return it to its position as one of the top clubs in the world."
