Sky News cited “retail industry sources” as saying that both Frasers, as well as a handful of other parties, were set to lodge revised bids for the brand in the coming week.
Gieves & Hawkes was formed in its current iteration in 1974, with the history of both the Gieves and the Hawkes tailoring brands stretching back to the 1700s.
It had been part of Trinity Group since 2012, which itself is owned by the collapsed Shandong Ruyi Technology Group.
Before 2012 it was part of another Hong Kong firm, Wing Tai Properties.
The other bidders for Gieves & Hawkes were not identified as the reports emerged on Sunday, and Sky News said Frasers Group had declined to comment.
At 1019 BST, shares in Frasers Group were up 1.23% at 822p.
