In his most recent role, Apter was the executive vice president of research solutions at MilliporeSigma, the life sciences arm of Merck KGaA, and was based in the US.
Prior to that, he was vice president and managing director of Asia Pacific for the Sigma-Aldrich Corporation, based in Singapore.
Apter was educated in Canada and received his MBA from Duke University in the US.
“I am delighted to welcome Jason to Johnson Matthey as sector chief executive, health,” said Johnson Matthey chief executive Robert MacLeod.
“His experience in global life sciences businesses will be invaluable in further building our pipeline of products and bringing these to market, enabling us to grow our health business and deliver on our strategy.”
