Meggitt secures new contracts for business jets and Chinese turboprops
Aerospace and defence engineering group Meggitt announced two new contracts on Wednesday - the first with Textron Aviation, to develop a wireless system that could check tyre pressure on a business jet in a matter of seconds, replacing the need for a manual gauge.

The FTSE 250 company said the deal followed its “long experience” in providing wireless systems for aircraft, which began in 2000 with the introduction of the first flight-essential wireless system to monitor smoke detectors in aircraft cargo holds.
Meggitt's wireless systems were now flying in more than 1,500 aircraft, its board claimed,
“This contract builds on the development work we have been undertaking with Textron Aviation on this innovative technology which can help to extend tyre life and reduce human error resulting in significant savings in maintenance costs and increasing flight reliability for aircraft owners and their passengers,” said Chris Allen, president of Meggitt Sensing Systems.
The second deal, which was signed with Chinese aircraft developer and manufacturer XAC, was a “multi-million dollar” sub-systems contract across the life of the MA700 Aircraft Programme.
XAC is developing the MA700 as a twin-engine medium-range turboprop aircraft.
Meggitt sadi it would supply its fire detection and suppression system, high performance engine bleed air leak detection (BALD) system, custom-designed air-cooled oil cooler (ACOC), and integrated secondary flight display (iSFD) systems on the MA700 airplane.
