Grigg, who served as CEO of British Land between 2009 and 2020, is currently chair of the UK Infrastructure Bank, as well as the former CEO of Barclays Commercial Bank, Treasurer of Barclays Bank and prior to that a 20-year partner at Goldman Sachs.
He replaces Justin Dowley, who is stepping down as non-executive chair, having led the board since 2019.
Grigg will join the board as a non-executive director in October and, following a planned transition period, is expected to succeed Dowley in March 2025.
"It has been a pleasure to lead the Melrose board since 2019 and through its recent strategic transition," Dowley said.
"We are delighted that Chris has agreed to join the Melrose Board, and I am confident he will steer Melrose to great success in the future. I look forward to working with him to ensure a smooth transition."
