The FTSE 250 company said Ayre - a Guernsey resident - joined the former BDO Reads, a chartered accountancy practice in the English Channel jurisdiction, in 1987, progressing to his appointment as a tax partner in 1991.
After the acquisition of the fiduciary, investment and taxation divisions of BDO Reads by Banque Generale du Luxembourg in 1999, he was appointed as the group managing director of its successor Fortis Guernsey in 2003, where he remained until 2009.
Ayre continued to work for Intertrust Group on a part time basis as a consultant to their private client business, Intertrust Reads Private Clients.
Prior to joining BDO Reads, he was employed by KPMG in Guernsey and Touche Ross in London, the company's board confirmed.
He currently held a number of non-executive board appointments on both public and private companies, including Dublin-quoted Brooks Macdonald Investment Funds.
