Pearson has been in discussions to sell its stake in the Economist Group, the publisher of the iconic The Economist magazine.

“Pearson confirms it is in discussions with the Economist Group board and trustees regarding the potential sale of our 50 percent share in the group,” the company said in a statement.

Earlier in the week Pearson sold the FT Group to Japan's Nikkei for £884m as part of a strategy to focus on global growth, digital products and the education market.
