The FTSE 100 packaging firm said the new printers would facilitate “brilliant” graphics for use with display and promotional packaging, and would also be capable of short runs to meet increasing demand for reduced turnaround times from brands.
It said it installed the corrugated presses in sites in Belgium, Denmark, France, Portugal, Poland and the UK, with additional installations scheduled for sites in the UK and the Netherlands.
“There is an industry-wide consensus that corrugated is ready for digital,” said Smurfit Kappa’s chief operating officer of corrugated and converting, Edwin Goffard.
