Hudson, who left his role as British Land financial controller after four years, replaces Mike Dunn, who stepped down from his role on 31 May and was temporarily replaced by Andy Taylor.
"Rob's wide-ranging financial skills and experience combined with his property sector knowledge will make him an excellent addition to the company,” said group chief executive Bill Oliver on 20 April, when the FTSE 250 group first announced Hudson’s appointment.
“I look forward to working with him to support the ongoing growth and success of St. Modwen's business."
St. Modwen shares were up 0.21% to 430.60p at 0927 BST on Monday.
