According to widespread media reports, more than 1,700 users had reported issues with the TSB app on Thursday morning. Customers also complained on social media that they had been frozen out of accounts.
TSB said in a brief statement that it had been aware that some customers had issues both logging into the app and on to online banking on Thursday morning.
But it added: "This issue is now resolved and we’re sorry for any inconvenience it caused."
It did not explain what had caused the outage.
In line with many other high street banks, TSB - which is owned by Spain’s Banco Sabadell - has been cutting branches as it looks to shift customers online.
Earlier this month it confirmed it was looking to axe around 250 jobs and close 36 branches.
At the end of 2023, TSB had around 5,400 employees and 211 branches. In February, Sabadell confirmed plans to close branches and cut jobs in the UK, but at that stage did not put a number on either.
According to recent research by consumer group Which?, more than 6,000 UK bank branches have been closed over the last nine years.
