Wizz Air May passenger numbers soar
May passenger numbers at Central and East European low cost carrier Wizz Air soared 21.8% to 2.17m with a year-on-year rise of 20.7% to 20.5m.

Capacity in May was up 20.3% month on month to 2.17m seats with a 18.9% jump to 23.3m from the same time last year. Load factor was up to 90.1% for the month from 89% and up 1.4 percentage points to 88.3% on the year.
Passenger revenue kilometres rose 24.5% month on month to 3.07m and 21.5% to 31.8m against May 2015.
Wizz said it had increased capacity with additional aircraft at Bucharest and Sofia bases from December, and launched eight new routes to and from Bulgaria, Montenegro, Romania, Lithuania and Poland.
It added that it had introduced the new wizzair.com website with “Express Booking” function available on mobile devices and soon to be rolled out on a desktop version.
Wizz Air operates a fleet of 68 Airbus A320 and Airbus A321 aircraft, with 420 routes from 25 bases, connecting 124 destinations across 39 countries.
