BBC to host EU referendum debate at Wembley Arena
The BBC is to host a mass debate on the EU referendum at Wembley Arena, it was revealed on Tuesday.
It was understood that two to three representatives from the leave and remain campaigns would be invited to the televised event, in front of a live audience of 10,000.
The debate would take place on 21 June, just two days before the historic vote. It was to be hosted by David Dimbleby, Emily Maitlis, and Mishal Husain.
Sources at the BBC told the Telegraph that the corporation had not yet confirmed which representatives would be involved, though David Cameron would come under pressure to put his hand up.
The debate, described by the BBC as its 'biggest-ever campaign event', was in addition to a Question Time referendum special also hosted by Dimbleby, to air on 15 June.
