FTSE 100 movers: LSEG rallies on Microsoft deal; Frasers in the red
London’s FTSE 100 was down 0.4% at 7,445.44 in afternoon trade on Monday.
Frasers Group was in the red as Mike Ashley sold put options on more than 200,000 shares in the company.
Frasers said Ashley the sold the put options with an expiry of September 2023 and a strike price of 900p, giving them an aggregated price of £1.8m.
A put option gives the holder the right, though not the obligation, to sell a security at a pre-determined price within a set timeframe.
London Stock Exchange surged after Microsoft agreed to buy a 4% stake in the company as part of 10-year strategic partnership for next-generation data and analytics and cloud infrastructure solutions.
LSEG said that as part of the partnership, its data platform and other key technology infrastructure will migrate to Microsoft Azure, enhancing its existing cloud migration strategy. Workspace, LSEG's next-generation data and analytics workflow solution, will become interoperable with certain Microsoft applications and the companies plan to introduce innovative new cloud-based analytics services.
