"The state government has assured us that they are working on 2-3 alternative bauxite mines for our Lanjigarh refinery. They will take up the matter with the central government and have assured that bauxite from these sources will be made available in 3-4 months," he said.
Riverstone Energy also rose after increased valuations for two of its key investments lifted the group's net asset value (NAV) per share as the oil and gas investor completed its third quarter with more than half its initial public offering funds committed. Net asset value per share rose from $16 to $16.19 by the 30 September, well above the company's share price at the time of $14.57 or £8.98.
Synthomer shares rebalanced a little after Tuesday's profit warning, which came as it said that the demand momentum in Europe seen earlier in the year had tailed off.
Meanwhile, a profit warning from high street retailer Next dragged sector peers Supergroup and JD Sports Fashion lower.
