Advisor Kellyanne Conway to leave White House
White House advisor Kellyanne Conway announced on Sunday that she will be leaving Donald Trump’s administration at the end of August, claiming she needs to focus on her family.
Conway was Trump’s campaign manager during the 2016 presidential election and the first woman to successfully steer a White House bid. She is currently a senior counsellor to the US president.
“I will be transitioning from the White House at the end of this month,” she said in a statement posted on social media.
“Our four children are teens and tweens starting a new academic year, in middle school and high school, remotely from home for at least a few months,” she said.
“As millions of parents nationwide know, kids ‘doing school from home’ requires a level of attention and vigilance that is as unusual as these times.
“This is completely my choice and my voice. In time, I will announce future plans. For now, and for my beloved children, it will be less drama, more mama.”
On Sunday, Kellyanne Conway described her time in the administration, and previously with the 2016 campaign, as “heady” and “humbling”.
Her husband, George Conway, also said he would be withdrawing from The Lincoln Project to focus on his family.
Recently George Conway was involved in a political scandal after he quickly emerged as a prominent critic of the President.
He's previously said that Trump is "guilty" of being unfit for office, called for Congress to remove the "cancer" of Trump from the presidency and openly questioned the President's mental health.
His opposition took on new meaning when he joined The Lincoln Project as each of the Lincoln Project principals had aligned themselves with the "NeverTrump" movement in the 2016 election and have been critics of Trump and the Republican Party ever since.
Trump hit back at George Conway on Twitter calling him “Mr. Kellyanne Conway”.
