ONS announces changes to data release schedule
Having reviewed its current model, the Office for National Statistics announced changes to the way it publishes data from January next year.
Rather than publish a number of free-standing statistical bulletins, it will create new ‘theme days’ for related data to be released together.
“This will allow ONS to present a more coherent and consistent picture of UK economic activity, thereby better supporting public discussion about the UK economy.”
The result is that the ONS will publish figures on construction, industrial production, trade and possibly even services on the same day.
The release of construction output will be brought forward by between one and seven days, while the service producer prices index will be brought forward by around one week.
UK Trade will either be unchanged or brought forward or delayed by a day.
