Airbus plans to choose buyer next month
Airbus is intending to select a buyer for its defence electronics business by the year-end, the company's chief executive told Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung.
Tom Enders said the move was part the aircraft manufacturer's intention to sell assets worth a total of approximately €2bn.
"The sales process for the defence electronics is ongoing, and we want clarity on the buyer by the end of the year," he told the newspaper.
"If I'm selling something I have to get the best possible price for it."
A number of companies are reported to be circling the unit, including private equity firm Carlyle, Cinven and Thales.
According to Reuters, Rheinmetall and Blackstone have partnered up with the intention of submitting a bid.
Final offers, which could reach as much as €1bn, are due in early December, the publication added.
